I managed an accounting team of four individuals who were responsible for a variety of duties. I reported to the Chief Administrations Officer.
Manage the day-to-day operation of the general accounting department to ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with non-profit grant accounting and government grant billings in a timely manner.
Develop a comprehensive annual budget in coordination with senior management, Staff Pastors, and Board of Trustees.
Maintains Chart of Accounts for church and all integrated ministry auxiliaries. Ensures proper and consistent postings to such accounts.
Recommends new or revised accounting policies. Develops and maintains procedures relating to all accounting policies.
Select, train, motivate, and manage the performance and development of a competent accounting team to ensure continuity of receivables, payables, payroll, and general ledger detail. Develops adequate levels of segregation of duties with accounting staff.
Prepared financials for annual external financial audit.
Develops and maintains operational systems which ensure accurate and timely postings of accounting transactions.
Maintain computer generated accounting reports and prepares special reports as requested by management.
Ensures that monthly general operating budget reports are prepared, reviewed and distributed to appropriate staff and committees on a timely basis. Communicates findings with the CAO.
