Â· Regularly ran highly technical diesel locomotives and freight on routes from California to Arizona through various terrain. Worked closely with conductors, dispatchers, safety supervisors, and track crews to ensure the safe and expedient delivery of valuable freight in the fast-paced, detail oriented shipping industry.
Â· Confirmed the accuracy of, and closely followed vital track warrants which gave the guidelines for the operation of the locomotive through cities, rural areas, mountains, and in the train yard.
Â· Inspected tracks and repaired refrigerated cars while en route. Checked and calibrated the critical braking system on trains of up to 140 cars, and operated multiple diesel locomotives linked together and run with distributed power via radio control.
Â· Became highly knowledgeable of the BNSF rules and FRA regulations, and trained new engineers and conductors in the importance of strict adherence to the operations and safety regulations of the industry.
Â· Worked closely with railroad dispatchers, conductors, and supervisors in the performance of proper radio procedure according to the guidelines the Federal Railroad Administration.
Â· Regularly prepared written reports to supervisors detailing in-field safety issues and concerns, train inspections, and incident reports.
